au cul du camion : être le premier acheteur, au moment où les brocanteurs déballent leurs marchandises. À vous les bonnes affaires ! “To buy off the end
of the lorry”:
being the first buyer, at the moment when the second-hand dealers are just unpacking their goods. Get the good deals!
Bourrer :
faire monter les enchères.
“To cram”:
get higher bids.
Came chaude :
marchandise volée.
“Hot gristle”:
stolen goods.
Dérouiller :
conclure la première vente de la journée pour un brocanteur. “To scrape the rust off ”: a second-hand dealer making the first sale of the day.
Être lavé :
n’avoir réalisé aucun bénéfice de la journée.
“To be washed out”:
not making any profit on the day.
Le prix téléphoné :
contrairement à ce que l’on pourrait imaginer, il s’agit du prix correct pour un objet dont on se fait acquéreur.
“The phone-in price”:
contrary to what we might expect, this is the correct price for any item you wish to acquire.
Le velours :
le bénéfice réalisé par le brocanteur suite à une vente. “The velvet”:
profit made by the second-hand dealer following a sale.
Marchandise dans son jus : objet vendu dans
l’état où il a été trouvé par le brocanteur.
“Goods in their own juice”: an item sold in the same condition as it was found by the second-hand dealer.
Un mouton
à cinq pattes :
objet littéralement impossible
à trouver : peu cher, en très bon état et très recherché.
“A five-legged sheep”:
an item that is literally impossible to find, in good condition and well sought-after
Un biffin :
un chiffonnier, une personne revendant différents petits objets et matériaux récupérés. “A biffin”:
a person selling-on various second-hand small objects and materials..
Une banane :
mauvais achat.
“A banana”:
an unsellable item that the seller wants to be rid of.
Une drouille :
une marchandise à la valeur moindre qu’un brocanteur
a de la peine à vendre.
“A nightingale”:
goods of a lower value than the second-hand dealer is having a hard time selling.
Une pompe :
un faux, tout simplement.
“A crib”:
put simply, a fake.
Payer en
chocolat :
payer en espèces.
“To pay in chocolate”:
to pay cash.
Se faire emplâtrer :
se faire avoir lors d’un achat. Heureusement, on peut également se faire déplâtrer en se débarrassant de son achat. “To get yourself plastered”: being conned. Luckily, you can also get yourself “unplastered” by getting rid of your purchase.
