Qui êtes-vous ?
Je suis un marchand d’art classique spécialisé dans les tableaux du xixe siècle. Je suis également associé avec mon père qui est, lui, spécialisé dans le mobilier du xviiie siècle.
Pourquoi cette spécialité ?
C’est une question de goût. On cherche constamment les marchandises porteuses. La période du xixe siècle est très intéressante ; beaucoup de mouvements et de styles sont apparus pendant cette période.
Quelle est votre période préférée ?
J’apprécie particulièrement les tableaux du xviie et du xixe. Ceux du xviie sont plus compliqués
à appréhender car ils n’étaient généralement pas signés, à l’inverse de ceux du xixe.
Who are you?
I am a merchant in classical art specializing in 19th century paintings. I also work with my father, who specializes in 18th century antique furniture.
Why this specialization?
It’s a matter of taste. We are constantly looking for the most promising objects. The 19th century is particularly interesting as many artistic movements and styles appeared during that period.
What is your favorite era?
I particularly admire paintings from the 17th to the 19th centuries. 17th century paintings are a little more difficult to get as they were commonly not signed, contrary to those from the 19th century.
Qui êtes-vous ?
Je suis passionnée depuis quarante ans par ce métier. Je suis toujours à la recherche de mobilier qui me plaise et fonctionne au coup de cœur.
Je me suis spécialisée dans les meubles, luminaires et objets du xxe siècle.
Pourquoi cette spécialité ?
Je n’avais pas trop d’argent au début.
Le xxe n’était pas coté et peu cher alors qu’il est pourtant tellement novateur.
Quelle est votre période préférée ?
Le xxe siècle. Il y a eu une mutation incroyable des dessins, du mobilier, des luminaires...
On se réinventait constamment.
Who are you?
This job has been my passion for the past forty years. I am always looking for furnishings that I find pleasing, I make my choices based on impulse. My area of expertise is in furnishings, lighting and objects from the 20th century.
Why this specialization?
I didn’t have a lot of money at first. The 20th century wasn’t listed and wasn’t very expensive, yet it was so innovative.
What is your favorite era?
The 20th century. An incredible transformation in the fields of drawings, furnishings and lighting occurred during this era. Artists were constantly reinventing themselves back then.
